So this is the start of my internship at Milwaukee Rep Theatre. It is also my first time blogging.
Here's to hoping for awesomeness to ensue.
Classes do not start until Sept. 3, but I will be putting in a couple days with the prop shop before then. Last week Thurs I spent the whole day there (9-5) meeting the team, getting a tour, getting a sense of the place and flow, and just starting to help out. Once it get's up to full steam I will be at The Rep Monday/ Wednesdays 1-5 pm and Tuesday/Thursdays 9-5. 24 hours a week.
The Team is headed by Properties Director and weapons master, Jim Guy. Assistant P.D. and casting/molding phenom, Anna. Fabric manipulation and painter extraordinaire, Margaret. Leather crafts, and all around jolly, Sarah. Graphics and painting new girl, Katie. And the stolid wizard of furniture craftsmanship, Eric.
On Aug 22nd, we pulled furniture from storage for Ragtime and prepared some shelving to do a chair move. A large number of chairs stored in the basement will be moved to the warehouse to make room for building jacks in the basement. ( The building is slowly moving into the river). The chair move will be happening this week Wednesday Sept 28th and I will be helping. Along with the chair move we will be photographing the pieces to start a digital inventory.
Nice first entry. This will be how we communicate about your internship and the work you do at the Rep. Please check back for my comments/ questions and address them either as a reply to the comment or in your next posting- OK?
ReplyDeleteI will be very interested is what program you are using for the digital inventory..... I am so not happy with our present method and it is so dramatically out of date.
I am so proud of you...and so confident in your commitment to making this a positive and learning experience. Enjoy the time learning everything you can- this is a GREAT opportunity.
